SKATER ENTRY/COACHES BOX ETIQUETTE

As parents ourselves, we know you just love to get photos and videos of your wonderful
children when they are performing at Icehouse competitions. Given the restrictions of
glass around the rink, most parents have been using the coach’s box to take their
treasured photos. As this box is also the entry point for skaters it’s important that they
have free and unrestricted access to the rink and their coaches have adequate space in
which to perform their duties. To help the smooth running of this area it’s important that
everybody understand the etiquette that is required. Please read the points below to
avoid being embarrassed or offended when asked to move on by the Marshalls in this
critical competition area:

  • Photographers are only permitted into the coaches box when their
children are ON THE ICE to perform their routine
  • Only ONE photographer/videographer per skater is allowed in the
    box
  • We ask that photographers use the BACK ROW OF THE BOX to
allow room for the coaches to have full view and also so they do
not inadvertently cause a distraction for the performing skater
  • Photographers must move out of the box IMMEDIATELY their
children have finished their routine to allow others to enter
  • NO PHOTOGRAPHERS are permitted in the box during warm ups
so that coaches can have personal time to properly prepare their
    skaters
  • Only coaches who have skaters performing ON THE ICE are
    allowed access to the box
  • Coaches must move out of the box IMMEDIATELY their skaters
have finished their routine to allow room for other coaches to
    enter

The Icehouse Figure Skating Club appoints Marshalls to run this area of the rink so that
skaters can warm up and compete to the best of their ability without interruption. We ask
that you respect the directions of these Marshalls as they have very a tough job. Your
adherence to the above is very much appreciated.  Download the Coaches Box Etiqutte rules below
